Deputy Director of the MFHR, Dr. M.A. Kostopoulou, in her capacity as President of GREVIO (an independent body mandated to monitor the implementation of the Istanbul Convention) addressed the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, informing the said statutory body on all current developments.

She pointed out, among others, the promising increase of ratifications of the Istanbul Convention during the previous year and the closure of a complete round of evaluations of the Contracting Parties. She highlighted the dynamics of the Convention and put an emphasis on the importance of EU’s ratification. She characteristically noted that EU’s adherence to the Convention is an historical step, bearing a strong political message.
