The Committee monitoring the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights is among the most important international instruments on the protection of human rights. It is, among other things, competent to examine individual applications on violations of the Covenant through a quasi-judicial procedure, critically contributing thus to the interpretation of the various provision of this fundamental international instrument. This publication of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights delves into this procedure, with particular emphasis on the Committee’s case-law from October 1998 until August 2002.
