The volume at hand contains and analyses the main actions of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) against the dangers arising from nuclear weapons, but also the use of nuclear energy in general. Among others, the volume contains the information furnished by the MFHR to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia on the use of depleted uranium weapons during the armed conflict in the former Yugoslavia, the public debates and seminars organised by the MFHR on the dangers of nuclear powerplants and nuclear weapons, as well as the proposals of the Foundation’s Committee against Nuclear Dangers regarding issues related to nuclear energy. There are also specialists’ contributions on the impact of nuclear energy and nuclear accidents on health and the environment, on the danger of a major nuclear accident in Europe, on the legal framework regarding the use of depleted uranium weapons, on the question of radioactive waste, on the dangers of peaceful use of nuclear energy, on the solution of alternative energy sources, as well as on the future of nuclear energy at an international level.
