“National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs)” constitute an important innovation in global governance, as they are the sole state mechanism, whose purpose and functioning are exclusively devoted to the protection and promotion of human rights.
This original monograph examines the interrelationship between the “architecture” of NHRIs and their principal mandate and intends to shed light on aspects and parameters concerning the establishment, the operation and the role of NHRIs. Comparing the various types of NHRIs that exist at an international level, the book draws some useful conclusions on the promotion and protection of human rights.
This piece of work focuses on a field of Human Rights Law that has not yet been explored by Greek researchers and constitutes a starting point for the engagement into a scientific dialogue aiming at enhancing NHRIs effectiveness.
