By bringing together authors who are already involved in the discussion, but who come from different disciplinary backgrounds, the present work has a twofold objective: on the one hand, to identify, through the analysis of the diversity of national experiences, the components of the European constitutional heritage by examining the mechanisms by which the “common” is created, whether it is constructed from below, by means of comparative law work, or from above, by means of the creation by European institutions of common standards that will apply on a pan -European scale. Secondly, to reflect on future projections and prospects in the light of a Europe torn by successive crises, by examining the responsibility of European institutions for the development of a European heritage consciousness.
