Author(s): directors: A. Yotopoulos-Marangopoulos, S.-H. Aktypis

This volume is dedicated by the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) to the 70th anniversary since the creation of the United Nations (UN). It comprises the papers presented on the occasion of two conferences organised by the MFHR. The first conference, that took place in December 2013, dealt with the different applicable methods of teaching Human Rights depending on the grade and type of educational institutions. The second conference, held in March 2014, addressed the issue of school violence and its detrimental consequences, that in some cases may lead to suicide or mass shootings at a post-school age against students and teachers. Moreover, the book includes the MFHR recommendations on the issue of education in the region of Thrace, as well as a contribution by Emerita Professor Mrs. Elly Yotopoulos-Sicilianos on the importance and the role of student communities in this critical period for education in Greece.
