The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) welcomes the choice of the government majority to nominate Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Council of State, as candidate for President of the Hellenic Republic. According to her statements, such a proposal honors at the same time Justice and the modern Greek woman. The MFHR, faithful and firm in defending women’s rights and being historically related to the Council of Europe, cannot but express its satisfaction in that Greece will most likely nominate soon the first woman as the President of the Hellenic Republic, who originates from an institution mandated to protect Human Rights and the democratic values.
