Linos-Alexander receives medal from Emmanuel Macron
The Vice President of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens, Linos-Alexander Sicilianos, was awarded the medal of the Officer of the Order of the Legion of Honour by H.E. the President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, for his humanitarian contribution, and his contribution to justice, democracy and peace.
The Legion of Honour (Légion d’Honneur) is the highest French order of merit of the French Republic.
The ceremony of conferment took place in the premises of the Permanent Mission of France in Strasbourg and the medal was awarded by the Permanent Representative, Ambassador Marie Fontanel.
In introducing the awardee, the Ambassador mentioned the multidimensional contribution of Professor Sicilianos as former President of the European Court of Human Rights, as Expert of the United Nations and other International Organisations, as well as an internationally renowned Professor.
