Yesterday, in the crowded Hall of the Hague Academy of International Law -in the presence of the President of the International Court of Justice, other Judges, Ambassadors and many Professors- the summer lectures on Public International Law were inaugurated, 100 years after the launch of the Academy, in July 1923. This symbolic year, for the most prominent academic institution in the field of International Law, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and f. President of the ECtHR, Professor Linos-Alexander Sicilianos, Vice President of the MFHR, was invited to deliver the General Course on “The Human Dimension of International Law”. As he himself stated in his opening lecture, his main purpose is to present a human-centered approach of International Law, that is currently so much needed, since human rights are being severely violated in many regions of the world.
