Announcement of the 2022 University student awards competition

The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) announces a competition for the conferment of three prizes and three commendations to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Greek and/or Cypriot universities for the best original unpublished essay on one of three topics.

The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) announces a competition for the conferment of three prizes and three commendations to undergraduate and postgraduate students of Greek and/or Cypriot universities for the best original unpublished essay, on one of the following topics:

1st “The basic pillars of women’s protection against violence: the Istanbul Convention and Greece”,

2nd “The European Court’s of Human Rights case-law on the environment” and

3rd “Serious human rights violations: incriminated acts under the 1998 Rome Statute”.

The three prizes consist in three scholarships (fees) for the online attendance of the International Summer School on Human Rights, that will be held from 27.06.2022 to 22.07.2022, in Strasbourg, and is organised by the International Institute for Human Rights René Cassin. The topic of this year’s Seminar is: International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian and Criminal Law.

Guidelines:

Each essay shall follow the following guidelines:

a) Word count: 7.000-12.000 words (including footnotes, but excluding: bibliography, table of contents, index or annexes).

b) Minimum content: table of contents, main body of the essay, footnotes, bibliography.

c) Formatting: Main body: Font Times New Roman 12 and Line Spacing 1,5. Footnotes: Font Times New Roman 10 and Line Spacing 1,0.

d) Type of document: word ή pdf (not other type of document)

e) The candidates should write their complete personal and contact information (name and last name, e-mail and phone number).

f) An updated cv of the candidate shall be attached.

The essays shall be sent online at the info@mfhr.gr and in printed version at the headquarters of the Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights, Lycavittou 1C, Athens 106 72 until Monday 16 May 2022.

The conferment of the awards will take place in June 2022 in the MFHR’s Library.

The award-winning participants undertake the obligation to attend all classes and to submit to the MFHR a report (minimum: 5 pages) on the organisation, the content and their impression on the Summer School until 31.07.2022.
