Message by the MFHR for the terrorist attacks in Paris

The Marangopoulos Foundation for Human Rights (MFHR) expresses its profound sadness following the terrible attacks that hit Paris and its sympathy to the families of the victims and to all French people. The MFHR joins the voices of all those everywhere in Europe and in the world standing against terrorism and in favour of democracy, peace and human rights.

Our French friends have suffered a series of terrorist attacks that target, through the unjust and barbarous death of dozens of innocent citizens, the fundamental values of our societies - pluralism, tolerance and open-mindedness - as well as our way of life and our democratic institutions.

We are forthright solidary with our French friends. Our Europe - more united than ever - has to deal with this terrible ordeal with all available means. The greatness of France and of every democracy lies within the words which the French President had the courage to pronounce in these tragic moments for his country, namely that the reaction to this atrocity will respect the rule of law.

Vive la République, Vive la France!
